Weigh-In Wednesday

Ugh. Does anyone else do a weekly weigh-in? If so, do you dread stepping onto that scale? I know I do! In fact, I have to make sure to weigh myself {naked} first thing in the morning. I am convinced that if I weigh myself {clothed} any later in the day, I will weigh more.

I didn't always struggle with my weight. As a teen, I was a gymnast and cheerleader. I never had to count calories or read ingredient labels. I remember someone once told me it {eating without abandon} would catch up to me sooner or later. I didn't believe them. Why should I? {Mistake #1}

Shortly after I graduated from college and got my first big girl job {teaching}, I decided to join a gym since I wasn't actively involved in any other physical activity. Well, that lasted about 8 months until I got bored on the treadmill and pedaling away to nowhere on the stationary bike, and so I quit going {Mistake #2}

A few years later, I had our first son. I gained a healthy amount of weight during my pregnancy {at least that's what my doctor told me}. It was in the months following the birth of our son that I noticed that I wasn't shedding those pounds easily. So, it finally caught up to me. This is when my struggle really began, and to this day, continues.

So, here I am- 46 years old, and finally, I joined the local gym. This is bravery, people. I see my former students, my current students, and parents of those students at the gym. Though I'd rather have a root canal than work out in front of my students {because I am certain that they are secretly videotaping me to upload in snap chat and on youtube}, I faithfully swipe my membership card five days a week. {Being in a full-arm cast has significantly altered this routine since I cannot go to the gym until my hand/arm heals.}

Somewhere along the way, I decided that I needed to hold myself accountable for my gains and losses.  That's where Weigh-In Wednesday comes in. So, without humiliating myself further, time to
post this week's results: 1.1 pound gain. :( Time to start walking everyday until my arm heals. Ugh.
